About my brain

I’m Ty, a Creative Development Lead at Keep Left in Melbourne.

I work across creative and operations, often on the same project. I develop ideas, art direct the work and get quite involved in how it all gets made.

How I make the work

Right brain

I like ideas with a clear reason to exist and a bit of personality. I want to understand what we’re trying to say and why anyone would care, then work out how it should look and feel.

I enjoy being involved as an idea develops. Working through possibilities, making decisions and paying attention to the details that make the finished work feel right.

How I make the work possible

Left brain

I’m interested in how the agency works around that creative process. How we plan the work, organise people and build tools that are actually useful to the team.

Doing the creative work myself gives me a pretty useful starting point. I know how an operational decision can affect someone’s day, because it could just as easily be affecting mine.

When I develop a tool, change a workflow or manage a bigger operational project, I can think through the logistics and what they’ll mean for the people involved. That understanding helps me make decisions quickly, guided by experience of doing the work.
